Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle has condemned the trending phrase “I am a chosen”, commonly used by The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries’ members.

The thespian shared his reservation via a post on his Facebook page.

Doyle’s remarks follow viral testimonies of members from the Lord Chosen Church.

He described the trending phrase as “nonsensical,” saying that it is not a Christian doctrine.

According to him, “The phrase ‘I am a Chosen,’ used by members of the religious sect called ‘Chosen,’ should never be connected to the Body of Christ.

“The members of this sect don’t have Jesus in mind when chanting the phrase. Their adoration is unequivocally directed at a man, their GO. The phrase does not mention or imply Jesus in any way.

“To infer that the nonsensical phrase is connected to giving glory to the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is to make a mockery of our faith.

“Content creators and bloggers using the phrase are not mocking the Church of God but the sect and its founder.”

Naija News reports that actor IK Ogbonna had a few days ago called on the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to tackle the issue of “fake miracles” in churches.

Other celebrities who have also reacted to the trending phrase include actress Kemi Lala Akindoju, who criticized the church’s doctrine.
