English Premier League side, Manchester United have sacked their Dutch coach, Erik Ten Hag.
Ten Hag, a former Ajax coach, managed his last game for United in a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, Naija News reports.
In a statement announcing Ten Hag sack, United also announced the appointment of former striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
“Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited,” the club statement read.
United almost fired the Dutch man over the summer after he guided them to their worst ever Premier League finish, but the new regime under Sir Jim Ratcliffe ultimately decided to keep him in charge and triggered a one-year extension to his contract.
