Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has expressed his elation after scoring his first goal for Lazio on Thursday, September 26.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who is at Lazio on loan from Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor, did not only score a goal but also provided an assist as Lazio triumphed over Dynamo Kyiv with a 3-0 win in a UEFA Europa League match at Volksparkstadion.
This marked his fourth appearance for Lazio, and he was thrilled to find the back of the net in front of the team’s supporters.
Following the game, Dele-Bashiru highlighted his positive on-field connection with Boulaye Dia and expressed his happiness in the team, attributing his improvement to the support of his teammates and coaching staff.
“I’m very happy for the goal and for having scored in front of our fans,” Fisayo Dele-Bashiru told the Lazio Style Channel.
“It was important to start well, and I’m happy with my understanding of the pitch with Boulaye Dia. I feel happy in this team; I have a great relationship with everyone; everyone helps me to settle in, and I’m getting better and better.
“I scored a beautiful goal!
“Of course I’m happy. Before the match, I had faith in myself and the team. I think I did my job; the goal and the assist made me even happier. It wasn’t easy to adapt to the new team; my teammates and the coach were helping me. It’s not easy, but I’m getting there.”
While acknowledging Dele-Bashiru’s potential, Lazio Manager Baroni emphasized the need for the player to enhance his tactical awareness and overall game impact.
“Dele-Bashiru is a player who needs to be built, in the sense that he needs to have more tactical thinking and fill the game. When he finds this, he becomes a great modern midfielder,” the coach said.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is expected to be in action for Lazio on Sunday, September 29, when the Italian side take on Grande in a Serie A match.
