Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has revealed that legendary former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger taught him what distinguishes a good player from a truly exceptional one.
In an interview featured on Liverpool’s YouTube channel, Salah shared how this guidance has significantly impacted his approach to the game.
The Egyptian forward recounted a memorable encounter with Wenger, which took place during a time when the renowned Frenchman visited Liverpool’s Melwood training ground. This meeting provided Salah with the opportunity to seek wisdom from one of football’s most respected figures.
“I had the privilege of receiving advice from Arsène Wenger,” Salah said. Reflecting on their conversation, he continued, “I asked him what distinguishes a good player from a truly exceptional one.
“He explained, ‘I think a very, very good player is always focused on the game. Even in moments when he doesn’t have momentum, he remains engaged and committed until the final whistle.’”
This insight made a lasting impression on Mohamed Salah. He emphasized, “For me, I understand that there are games where I might not feel I have the upper hand or momentum in my performance, but I’ve learned to maintain my focus and commitment throughout the match, ensuring that I contribute to my team until the very end.”
