Four nations have successfully advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with Nigeria’s Flamingos, the United States, Spain, and Ecuador securing their spots after impressive performances in the group stages.
The Flamingos clinched their position after a narrow 1-0 victory over the host nation, the Dominican Republic, topping Group A with a stellar display of skill and teamwork.
Nigeria’s Flamingos finished top of Group A with nine points at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup following there 1-0 victory over hosts Dominican Republic on Wednesday morning.
Bankole Olowookere’s side have already booked their spot in the quarter-finals after last Saturday’s 4-0 rout of Ecuador but were determined to finish their group stage campaign on a high.
Ecuador, on the other hand, secured their quarter-final berth by dominating New Zealand with a convincing 4-0 win in their final group game.
The victories for Nigeria and Ecuador were crucial in setting the stage for the knock-out rounds, where the competition is expected to intensify.
The tournament continues to unfold with more exciting matches lined up. Later today, Zambia is set to face Japan, and Poland will go up against Brazil in their respective final group fixtures.
