The Nigeria National League, NNL has placed a transfer ban on Gombe United FC, Wikki Tourists and Dakkada FC over their indebtedness to former players, Sports247 reports

In a letter dated 7th November 2024, signed by Dr Ayo AbdulRahman, the NNL informed the three clubs that won’t be allowed to register new players for the 2024/2025 NNL season.

This is in compliance with the ruling of the Players Status and Arbitration Committee (PSAC) that all indebted clubs under the jurisdiction of the NNL must defray all their overdues before registration of new players can be effected.

” The clubs named therein shall not be permitted to register new players in the ongoing window of the Nigeria National League until they have fully ensured strict compliance of Article 12bi, paragraph 5 of the FIFA regulations on the status and transfer of players” the letter read in part.

In a widely commendable move, the Ibrahim led Nigeria Football Federation board inaugurated the Players Status and Arbitration Committee, for the first time in many years.

The body charge to look into contract dispute between players, coaches and clubs swung into action to hear the first set of many complaints of arbitrary termination of players/coaches contract.

The PSAC delivered judgements in favour of players/coaches and placed a transfer ban on affected clubs.

There has been substantial compliance from most NPFL clubs after initial resistance from the clubs but the persistence of the PSAC prevailed.

Gombe United FC, Dakkada FC and Wikki Tourists FC, all three affected clubs dropped off into the NNL from the NPFL after the conclusion of the 2023/2024 season.
