Public affairs analyst, Mahadi Shehu has called on Northern leaders to apologize to former President Goodluck Jonathan for the treatment he received while in office.
In a video shared by African Independent Television (AIT), Shehu highlighted Jonathan’s commitment to uplifting the region, particularly through the allocation of federal resources to rehabilitate the Almajiri system by building schools.
“Jonathan dedicated national resources to establish schools for Almajiris, aiming to improve education and prospects for children in the North,” Shehu stated.
The analyst expressed regret that after Jonathan’s tenure, these educational structures were left to deteriorate, undermining the initial efforts and investments made for the benefit of the region.
He said, “Goodluck Jonathan dedicated federal resources meant for the nation to rehabilitate these Almajiris.
“Soon after he left, we know how the structures are now. All those Nigerians who abused and cast aspersions, including myself, on Jonathan during his own regime need to apologize him openly.
“While politicians use them for political reasons, they don’t look at the other side of the consequences of creating more ‘Boko Haram’ out of them, and more armed robbers out of them.
“These young men, who have been denied all the essence of life, all the goodies of life, who have been traumatized and reduced into pitiable materials, will one day emerge very soon to identity their enemies.
“Not far enemies but people close to them, and they will take revenge.”
