The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, on Monday, denied the report that he walked the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, out of his palace, adding that the Ooni had never been to his palace.
The monarch in his reaction to a trending video on social media where Ooni claimed that he was walked out of Oluwo’s palace like a baby, said it was an old video.
The Ooni in the video said, “When I visited Oluwo, he chased me out like a child, since that incident, I have always maintained myself going close to him. Now that you people (attendees) are imploring that I visit him again, what if he does what he likes to me?
“But I have to contain his excesses as an elder, although I am a young person sitting on the throne of the elders. Oluwo, I greet you.”
Speaking through his spokesperson, Alli Ibrahim, the Iwo monarch said the video was old, adding that there was never a time Ooni came to Oluwo’s palace.
He said, “The trending video was old and that there was never a time Ooni came to the palace. The palace will officially react to the trending video.”
The duo has been having a cold war over age seniority as the Oluwo was said to be seven years older than the Ooni, and the former refused to concede to the latter, who is described as the head of traditional rulers in the southwest.
