The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has granted approval for the promotion of 49 senior officials within the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
The approval was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday, September 20, by Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
It was noted that the SGF approved the elevation of 21 Corps Commanders (CC) to Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM), while 11 Deputy Corps Commanders were promoted to Corps Commanders. Additionally, 17 individuals advanced from the position of Assistant Corps Commander to Deputy Corps Commander.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that three of the Assistant Corps Marshals are to retire immediately.
The promoted Assistant Corps Marshals include the Corps Secretary, ACM LD Shehu fsi, Corps Legal Adviser, ACM KD Gonji, mni, Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, mni, Corps Intelligence Officer, ACM G Ntukidem, fsi, the Corps Provost, ACM AT Hassan, fdc, the Corps Budget Officer, ACM MR Sabiya, and the Corps Transport Standardisation Office, ACM KA Ibrahim.
Others are; Sector Commander Bayelsa, ACM CM Onukwubiri, ACM TA Mohammed, ACM in charge of Command Administration and Strategy, ACM SU Galadanchi, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS3HQ Yola, ACM YA Haruna, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS1HQ Kaduna, ACM A Umar, ACM in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation, ACM EF Akinlade, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS4HQ Jos, ACM AA Irelewuyi, the Head of Session, Personnel, Administration and Human Resources Department, ACM YD Dio, fsi, ACM in charge of Federal Operations, ACM ST Agure, Commandant Road Marshal Assistant Training School, Shendam, ACM M Yakubu, and Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS11HQ Osogbo, ACM HA Godwin.
The three senior officers promoted to immediate retirement are ACM DI Okuobeya, ACM AS Ochi, and ACM Adekanye, fsi.
In addition, among the eleven newly promoted corps commanders is the corps information technology officer and technical adviser to the corps marshal, and the corps commander was Wasiu Adenekan MNSE.
The list of newly promoted Deputy Corps Commanders includes DCC EE Uzoma and sixteen others.
The statement further noted that Akume expressed satisfaction with the transparency and objectivity that characterized the entire process, urging the appointed officers to demonstrate increased commitment and to recommit themselves to fulfilling the Corps’ corporate vision of eliminating road traffic accidents and fostering a safer driving environment in the nation.
He emphasized that these appointments are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s initiative to recognize excellence, diligence, and hard work, aligning with the administrative philosophy of the current leadership under the Hope Agenda regime.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed also congratulated the newly promoted officers for their outstanding performances during the evaluation, highlighting that each promotion entails greater responsibilities. He urged them to exert their utmost effort in their new roles, as the elevated rank demands enhanced focus, dedication, commitment, and passion.
He encouraged those who were not selected this year to maintain their faith and loyalty to the system.
Additionally, the Corps Marshal assured that he would work towards improving the overall welfare of the Corps personnel.
He called upon all personnel to remain optimistic and to contribute significantly towards achieving the Corps’ corporate mandate.
