The Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed Prince Kenneth Okwuchukwu Emeakayi as his Special Adviser for Community Security.
Naija News reports that this appointment follows the recent incidents of violence within the state.
Soludo formally inaugurated the newly appointed adviser during a ceremony held at the Anambra State Government House executive chambers in Awka on Tuesday.
Emeakayi, who previously served as the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, most recently held the role of President-General of the Okija community in the Ihiala Local Government Area, where he was recognized for his efforts in coordinating local security.
Although Ihiala LGA has been identified as a hotspot for insecurity and is known to harbour camps of secessionist groups, the Okija community has maintained a peaceful environment, a situation credited to Emeakayi’s leadership.
In his new role, Emeakayi will be responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of local security measures across various communities throughout the state.
Meanwhile, Soludo has declared that the state is sticking to ₦70,000 minimum wage for workers.
The Governor explained that if he considers deductions such as union dues, tax and other things, the workers might receive between ₦78,000 to ₦84,000 monthly.
However, he said he decided not to announce the figure because it would still come down to ₦70,000.
He assured that the least paid worker in Anambra State will go home with nothing less than ₦70,000.
Soludo stated this while meeting with the labour leaders in the state at the Governor’s lodge in Amawbia over the weekend.
