In a tragic development from Plateau State, two students were reportedly killed in an ambush by gunmen along Kurra Falls in the Gashish District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.​


The victims, identified as Obadiah Daryan, aged 25, from the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Vom, and Ezekiel Monday, aged 21, of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) Gashish, were attacked while riding a motorcycle to Barkin Ladi town.

Sources who spoke with Daily Trust indicate that the assailants shot the students and subsequently stole Obadiah’s phone, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of these young lives.

The police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the killings, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

In a related incident on Thursday night, another act of violence was reported in the region where Francis Samuel from Fass settlement was stabbed in the Kwi community. Samuel is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

The Plateau State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, has not yet issued a statement regarding these attacks.

Recall that there have been attacks, killings, destruction of farmlands/cattle and rustling of cows among farmers and herders in some communities in Plateau State.
