The reigning champions of the German Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen, have reassured fans that Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Boniface did not sustain any serious injuries following a car accident on Sunday, October 20.
The incident occurred while Victor Boniface was en route to the airport to meet some friends in Germany. Reports indicate that the 23-year-old forward’s Mercedes Benz collided with an oncoming truck, resulting in a harrowing scene which did not lead to loss of lives.
In an update provided to German news outlet Bild, the club confirmed that Boniface is recovering well. “He is fine. Boniface only sustained two minor injuries to his hand,” said a club spokesperson.
This news comes on the heels of an impressive performance by Victor Boniface just days earlier when he scored the decisive goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Despite experiencing a setback when he missed a penalty kick during the match, he redeemed himself by netting the winning goal 18 minutes before the final whistle.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria national team reacted to Boniface’s accident earlier today, October 21, urging the team’s fans to send the striker their well-wishes.
The Super Eagles posted via their official Instagram page: “Good to hear @boniface_jrn’s well. Let’s send him our wishes.”
